Every Discovery is purchased under a license based on how it will be used. Choose the option that fits your purpose and the experience you want to create.

Every North Channel Discovery represents intensive resereach, writing, fieldwork, partnerships, design and care. Thoughtful licensing allows these stories to keep being found, preserved, and carried forward.
WHAT ALL LICENSES HAVE IN COMMON
North Channel retains ownership of its original intellectual property. Purchasing access to a Discovery does not purchase its copyright. Materials may not be copied, shared, resold, publicly posted, or used to create a competing product or experience. Reasonable printing of designated materials is permitted within the scope of your license.

USAGE GUIDELINES
Every North Channel Discovery represents original research, writing, fieldwork, photography, design, community relationships, archival research, and editorial development.
Your license is designed to make it easy to enjoy and share the experience with the people covered by your license while protecting the publishing work that makes future Discoveries possible.
Within the scope of your purchased license, you may access the Discovery, participate in the experience, revisit it, and print materials specifically designated as printable.
Household license holders may print those materials for members of their household. Educator and Group license holders may print approved participant materials for the group covered by their license.
Local Partners and Organizations may use North Channel materials only according to the permissions included in their specific license or agreement.
A Discovery may not be copied, forwarded, uploaded, publicly posted, resold, or distributed beyond the people covered by the applicable license.
This includes sharing downloadable PDFs, screenshots, account credentials, private links, QR codes, Story Books, maps, field materials, or other protected content with people outside your licensed household, group, business, or organization.
North Channel intentionally creates certain materials to be taken into the field.
You are welcome to print materials identified as printable for use within your licensed household or group.
Printable does not mean freely reproducible. Printed materials may not be copied for other households, groups, businesses, organizations, or resale.
Household and Educator / Group licenses do not permit a Discovery to be incorporated into a commercial product or paid guest experience.
Hotels, resorts, vacation rentals, concierges, tour guides, real estate professionals, relocation specialists, and other businesses wishing to provide North Channel Discoveries to guests or clients should use a Local Partner License.
Organizations requiring broader institutional use should use an Organization License.
North Channel research, routes, storytelling, prompts, maps, photography, educational structure, or Discovery materials may not be copied, substantially adapted, or repackaged into another guide, curriculum, tour, publication, website, product, or commercial experience without written permission.
You are welcome to talk about what you learned and share your own experience. We simply ask that the publishing work itself remain North Channel’s.
Some Discoveries may contain archival photographs, maps, documents, quotations, artwork, or other materials owned by third parties or available under specific historical-use permissions.
Their inclusion in a North Channel Discovery does not automatically grant permission for independent reuse.
Where appropriate, source and rights information will be identified within the Discovery.
A gifted Discovery generally becomes a Household Discovery License for the recipient when redeemed.
Businesses, educators, or organizations wishing to provide Discoveries to multiple recipients should use the license designed for that purpose.
If the way you use a Discovery changes, contact North Channel.
A Household purchaser who later wants to use the Discovery with a class, group, business, or organization may be able to upgrade the license rather than purchase the Discovery again.
